Find out what is limiting your Bluetooth LE system
When disconnects, latency spikes, unstable throughput, limited range or unexpected energy consumption cannot be explained by the available logs, changing individual parameters is rarely enough. We analyze the complete BLE communication system, identify the relevant technical root-causes and give your engineering team a prioritized path toward more reliable and predictable Bluetooth LE performance.
Trusted by engineering teams at
For product teams that need answers before making expensive changes
Our BLE Performance Diagnostic is designed for existing or in-development products whose communication does not perform as reliably, efficiently or predictably as required.
Demanding Nordic Semiconductor-based products
The service is particularly relevant for products used in:
Industrial sensors and measurement equipment
Condition-monitoring systems
Medical devices and medical equipment
Industrial automation systems
Other demanding applications with defined requirements for reliability, latency, throughput, range or energy consumption
The product does not need to be in production. Diagnostics can help during development, before release or after deployment.
OPTION A — SYMPTOM INDEX WITH SIGNAL TRACES
Does this sound familiar?
Works well during development but behaves differently in the real world
Experiences random disconnects or unexplained latency spikes
Delivers insufficient or unstable throughput
Performs inconsistently across devices or installations
Becomes less reliable near Wi-Fi or other wireless systems
Has less range or higher energy consumption than expected
Produces field failures that your team cannot reproduce
Provides logs that show the symptoms but not the cause
If these symptoms are familiar, replacing hardware or tuning parameters without a system-level diagnosis may increase cost without addressing the actual limitation.
Diagnose the complete communication system
Bluetooth LE performance depends on more than the radio configuration. Application requirements, hardware interfaces, embedded software, BLE controller behavior, data flow, radio conditions and the operating environment all influence the result.
We examine how these elements interact instead of treating disconnects, delays or energy consumption as isolated symptoms.

Find where the link breaks down
Connection stability, connection failures and disconnect behavior
BLE configuration and controller behavior
Trace performance through the complete path
Latency, timing variability and scheduling
Throughput and data flow through the complete system
Hardware interfaces and embedded-software constraints
Test behavior under representative conditions
Range, signal conditions and radio performance
Energy consumption and communication efficiency
Coexistence with Wi-Fi and other wireless systems
Connect laboratory evidence to field behavior
Smartphone or gateway interaction
Differences between laboratory and real operating conditions
Testing can combine available hardware, applications, gateways, logs, sniffer traces, technical documentation and observations from the field.
From the observed symptom to a prioritized engineering roadmap
The same engineers can stay involved from the initial investigation through implementation and ongoing support.
Clear findings for the next engineering decision
The purpose of the diagnostics is to replace assumptions with evidence and help your team decide where engineering effort will have the greatest impact.
The engagement includes
A system-level assessment of the relevant BLE behavior
Identification of the most likely technical causes and constraints
Quantification of observed problems where the available system and evidence allow it
A detailed engineering report explaining the findings
Prioritized recommendations for improvement
A review session with your engineering team
A discussion of implementation and validation options where required
What the diagnostics help you decide
Whether the limitation is primarily in the radio, firmware, architecture or wider system
Which changes should be investigated first
Whether existing hardware can remain in use
What should be validated before implementation
Whether a focused optimization project or broader redesign is required
Choose the delivery format that fits the problem

Low-level insight into Nordic Semiconductor-based systems
Industrial and medical BLE products rarely fail because of a single configuration parameter. Reliable communication depends on the interaction between firmware, communication architecture, controller behavior, RF conditions, timing requirements, diagnostics and validation.
Years of BLE experience
The DEWINE Labs team has more than a decade of experience developing, analyzing, and optimizing Bluetooth LE systems based on Nordic Semiconductor platforms, from battery-powered devices to production-critical industrial applications.
Low-level BLE and controller expertise
System-level analysis across the complete data path
Proprietary on-device monitoring mechanisms
Testing under representative radio and operating conditions
Experience improving existing products without unnecessary hardware changes
Embedded engineering support when findings need to be implemented
From diagnosis to verified improvement

Replacing control and safety cables with real-time wireless communication
KNAPP wanted to replace physical control and functional-safety communication in modular warehouse systems with Bluetooth LE.
We engineered a deterministic, dual-channel communication architecture running on Nordic Semiconductor-based hardware.
Recorded wireless downtime

Increasing BLE throughput by approximately 9× without changing the hardware
Hitachi Rail needed faster wireless access to diagnostic data for technicians working with trackside equipment.
We replaced and optimized the embedded BLE firmware on the existing module, increasing throughput from approximately 77 kbps to more than 700 kbps.
~77 kbps → 700+ kbps
What product teams usually want to know
Is this only relevant for products already in production?
No. Diagnostics can be used during development, before release or after deployment. Finding a system constraint early is often significantly less expensive than resolving it after products reach customers.
Do you only assess systems built on Nordic Semiconductor devices?
Our primary expertise is Nordic Semiconductor platforms. Many system-level engineering principles also transfer to other BLE platforms, but we clarify technical fit before defining the engagement.
Do you implement the recommended improvements?
Implementation is not included in the diagnostics. If required, DEWINE Labs can implement and validate the recommended changes through a separate engineering engagement.
Do you need access to our source code?
Not necessarily. Many assessments begin with the device, application or gateway, BLE configuration, logs, traces, system architecture and technical documentation. If source-code access would materially improve the analysis, we can discuss it separately under NDA.
Do we need to send hardware?
In most cases, yes. Hands-on testing allows us to evaluate the system under representative conditions. If hardware is not immediately available, we can often begin with documentation, logs, traces and an architecture review.
Can every Bluetooth LE problem be fixed?
No. Some issues require firmware changes, architecture modifications, gateway improvements, antenna optimization or hardware changes. Our commitment is a technically sound diagnosis and prioritized roadmap, not a promise that every issue can be solved without changes to the wider system. However, we have seen significant performance improvements in most BLE systems after fine-tuning the firmware.
How long does the diagnostics process take?
The standard turnaround is 14 days after the technical intake and receipt of the required inputs. A 7 day priority option is available on request.
What do you need to get started?
We begin with a technical discussion. Depending on the project, we may request the device, smartphone application or gateway, logs, sniffer traces, system architecture, firmware information, technical documentation and existing test results. We define the exact scope together before the diagnostics begin.
Do you offer on-site diagnostics?
Yes. When required, our engineers can analyze the BLE system at your facility under its actual operating and radio conditions.
